Cell phone photography has been elevated to a fine art at the first-ever Islander Cell Phone Photography Show, hosted in the downstairs exhibit space of the Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. An opening reception will be held tonight (Thursday, July 7) from 6-8 p.m. and the exhibit runs through Friday, Sept. 16. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public.

Entry into the exhibit was open to all Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi students, faculty and staff. More than 90 photos were accepted.

"I can honestly say that I never considered a cell phone camera to be anything to take seriously," said Jeff Janko, Bell Library Information Specialist and show organizer. "But then I saw the entries come in, and I was blown away. Cell phone cameras challenge people to become better photographers. The images in the show are impactful."
