The Texas Body Painting Festival kicks off its first annual event on June 24, 2017, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Artists will be competing for $1000 in cash prizes for the right to claim the title of "Best in Texas," as guests enjoy live body art presentations, music and more! Cell phone photography has been elevated to a fine art at the first-ever Islander Cell Phone Photography Show, hosted in the downstairs exhibit space of the Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. An opening reception will be held tonight (Thursday, July 7) from 6-8 p.m. and the exhibit runs through Friday, Sept. 16. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public.
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will present a production of Wendy Wasserstein's timeless Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, "The Heidi Chronicles," starting today (Tuesday, March 1) through Sunday, March, 6, in the Wilson Theatre in the Center for the Arts.
Auditions for the 2016 IceRays Crush Dancers will be held Feb. 27th starting at 10 a.m. at Cinderella Dance Studio and also on Tuesday, March 1st, at 8:30 p.m. at Flex Fit Studio (Saratoga). New members will get to perform during the remaining spring games for the IceRays and make offseason appearances while preparing for the start of the 2016 season.
The 2015 South Texas Underground Film Festival will be held Nov. 30 - Dec. 6, 2015, at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, House of Rock and Del Mar College. The festival showcases all kinds of work from filmmakers, visual artists and musicians while providing educational opportunities during the festival.
Award-winning playwright Mary Zimmerman's re-imagined tale of a young warrior sent on an dangerous expedition, "Argonautika: The Voyage of Jason and the Argonauts," will be performed by the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Department of Theatre and Dance. The production will run from Tuesday, Nov. 10, through Sunday, Nov. 15, in the Warren Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.
The School of Arts, Media and Communication at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Concert Ballet are hosting the 16th annual Bailando Dance Festival from Thursday, Oct. 1 through Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Performing Arts Center. Master dance classes will also be held during that time period in the Dugan Wellness Center and Warren Theatre at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
