Get out your bell bottoms and platform shoes to boogie the night away! Bayfest goes back to the decade the popular festival began and hosts a ’70s themed party with Le Freak, a popular disco cover band featured recently on America’s Got Talent, on Wednesday, July 21st at Brewster Street Ice House. Money raised from the concert will benefit this year’s festival.
The ’70s themed concert will kick-off an almost two month countdown before the 2010 festival celebrates its 34th year in Corpus Christi. This year’s festival is scheduled for September 24, 25 & 26th on Shoreline Blvd. in between Resaca and Player streets and will include numerous non-profit food booths, a carnival, as well as a variety of entertainment including Latin Grammy winning Reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee at the American Bank Center.
“Bayfest was started back in 1976 to help out local non-profit organizations. We’ve never lost sight of our main goal and this year we hope to make the festival bigger than ever to really benefit the local community,” said Chrissy Martin, General Chairman of Bayfest 2010. “We hope to see lots of people out sporting their disco flare to help us raise some money to make Bayfest 2010 a success.”
The special concert will also include a raffle, tons of vintage Bayfest give-a-ways as well as a costume contest for the person that shows off their best ’70s style. The winner will receive a 4-pack of Bayfest admission tickets and other goodies. Tickets for Le Freak can be purchased on-line at www.brewsterstreet.net or at the door until they are sold out!
Tickets are $10 for this all ages show. Doors open at 8:00 p.m.
