Cruisin' the Country with Pops in the park

Valero Energy Foundation and the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra (CCSO) proudly present the 6th Annual Pops in the Park, "The Great American Road Trip".

Corpus Christi, Texas, February 10, 2017 -- Valero Energy Foundation and the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra (CCSO) present the 6th Annual Pops in the Park community concert on April 22, 2017 at Whataburger Field. This outdoor concert is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a family evening filled with lively, familiar music presented by the full orchestra of the Corpus Christi Symphony. Local boy and celebrated Maestro, Lee Gwozdz, will conduct music from across America including all-time favorites such as; 'New York, New York,' 'Chicago,' 'Oklahoma,' and of course 'Yellow Rose of Texas.' Popular selections from the Beach Boys will celebrate 'California Girls,' while guests will also enjoy a synchronized light show on the iconic Harbor Bridge and the biggest and most magnificent fireworks finale to date.

Valero will present a $1,000 Scholarship to an area High School Senior.

The pre-concert show has something for everyone: ballpark concessions, the Kid's Zone (available before and during the performances), and the Instrument Petting Zoo (where kids are introduced to various musical instruments). The pre-concert show also includes performances by student musical groups and civic organizations, a salute to the military, and culminates with the sounds of the Corpus Christi Symphony. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite state-themed attire.

"Pops in the Park has become one of the most anticipated annual events in south Texas," according to Lynn Haueter, CCSO Executive Director, "families and groups come from all over the state Title: Robert and Chris Adlerto enjoy this one of kind musical extravaganza!"

Event Co-chairs are Patty Nuss, Ann Engel and Janie Bell. Longtime symphony supporters Robert and Chris Adler are Honorary Chairs.

Sponsorships are available in ranges from $2,500-$15,000. Patron and host packages are available for $500 and $1,000.

Approximately 6800 people enjoyed Pops in the Park in 2016: a clear indication that Pops in the Park has become a signature event in our community. With the goal of keeping ticket prices at reasonable levels, continued audience growth is anticipated.
